This work is part of the series “Vanishing Zones” in which Kuper creates black and white existential images, echoing timeless scenes from unknown places. The images originate from photographs taken by video cameras or "toy" cameras with relatively small negatives. The work process includes an initial print of the images, a separation of the printing paper into layers, keeping parts of the emulation only, contact printing from this portion to create a new negative, and reprinting from it. With every repetition of the process different details of the image contained in each layer disappear until its final disintegration. Thus, the works deal indirectly with memory, its subtraction, vagueness, and addictive deception.
